A strategic collaboration between Submer, Stellium Data Centres, and Circle B has resulted in a proof of concept according to Open Compute Project (OCP) principles, with Submer’s immersion cooling technology integrated into Stellium Data Centres’ infrastructure. This deployment’s reliable and efficient datacenter infrastructure and sustainable datacenter design demonstrates enhanced performance and energy efficiency.
Submer’s Role in the Collaboration
Guided by Submer’s integral values of innovation and sustainability, embodied in its slogan “Datacenters that make sense”, Submer views this collaboration as a major achievement in its continuous efforts in uniting strategic partners. This project strengthens Submer’s mission to expand the immersion cooling catalog as a whole, moving from evangelizing the technology to real-world applications with multiple installations now available for public view. Visitors can experience first-hand the tangible benefits of immersion cooling technology.
“Collaborating with Stellium Data Centres and ExxonMobil on this Open Compute Project is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability. By combining our expertise in immersion cooling with Stellium’s cutting-edge data infrastructure, we aim to redefine the standards for data centre efficiency and reliability. Having Circle B on board has brought an enormous value to this project by delivering immersion server components such as Storage, Memory and AMD’s latest CPUs.”
Oriol Chavanel, Ecosystem Enablement Tech. Lead & OCP Lead at Submer
Solution Setup and Technology Partners
At Stellium’s site, Submer’s immersion cooling technology is deployed in combination with ExxonMobil’s Submer-validated DC 3235 Super coolant. The setup is powered by Mitac’s Open Rack v3 servers and complete with AMD CPUs and server components provided by Circle B.
“Since joining OCP 2017, MiTAC been committed to working with partners for the future of datacenter technology. To meet the growing demand of AI, servers need to provide higher computing power and Submer’s immersion cooling solution is the best choice for total cost of ownership (TCO), considering both performance and PUE. It is a major achievement to adopt MiTAC’s OCP server with Submer immersion cooling solution in Stellium’s datacenter and is a way of validating our concept for future technologies”.
Alex Chou, Product Marketing & Development at MiTAC Computing Technology Corp.
Other key contributions to the solution include:
- TE Connectivity: ORv3 busbars
- Murata: ORv3 powershelves
- Edge-Core: ORv3 network switch
- FormericaOE: Fiber cables
“We are thrilled to embark on this collaborative journey with Submer, Stellium Data Centres, and Circle B. As part of this strategic collaboration, Edgecore is proud to contribute our immersion cooling capable switch to the data center infrastructure. This collaboration exemplifies our dedication to providing sustainable and efficient networking switches based on latest immersion cooling technology that aligns with industry’s best practices. “
Nanda Ravindran, VP of Product Management at Edgecore Networks.
Together, these components create a comprehensive, cutting-edge datacenter infrastructure.
