Solvenz Unveils Plans for Cutting-Edge Datacenters

Barcelona, Spain. March 19th, 2024 – Solvenz announces the development of three state-of-the-art data centers with a critical IT load of 465Mw marking the beginning of a series of planned datacenters. The company is currently considering potential locations, with final selections to be announced in the coming days, and has secured supply chain priority, reaffirming its commitment to an asset class experiencing exponential growth.

Sustainability at Solvenz

Solvenz is prioritizing the development of cutting-edge technology infrastructure data centers engineered to meet high-performance computing (HPC) demands for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) data processing workloads.

Solvenz continues to invest in power generation assets to augment its growth and expansion strategy and is committed to supply chains. It focuses on eco-friendly “green” designs that will sustain its datacenters well into the future.

“We are fortunate to have the flexibility and optionality with various site locations, power sources, and service providers. We are evaluating a myriad of options as we formalize our data center businesses and development of our IT assets and virtualized platforms.

We have an opportunity to be in the unique position to give back to the community and are in talks with state leaders evaluating platforms managing funds for educational purposes, grants, and scholarships. We are also exploring carbon capture solutions and incorporating heat waste reuse methodologies to heat greenhouses year-round that will produce garden-grade fruits and vegetables for food banks and other non-profit foundations. We firmly believe that alignment within the local communities and state, and deploying deliverable decarbonization strategies is essential for sustainability and longevity.”

Future-Proofed Datacenters

Solvenz has developed a strategic plan to ensure the longevity and sustainability of its datacenter investments. A crucial element of this plan involves implementing a diverse mix of power generation and hosting optionality for its end-users. Moreover, Solvenz is broadening its critical infrastructure services provider relationships by partnering with network engineers and industrial electrical equipment providers with long-standing track records.

Hypertec, Solvenz’s data center architect and builder, is a global leader in sustainable IT solutions that recently announced the completion of an upgrade for the world’s largest and greenest immersion-cooled supercomputer. This supercomputer’s immersion cooling technology and Hypertec’s Trident line of immersion-born servers are the foundation for eco-friendly high-performance computing cooling technology that Solvenz will look to deploy in its data centers.

For its cooling solutions, Solvenz turns to Submer, a best-in-class provider of single-phase immersion cooling solutions. Submer’s SmartPods set the industry standard with an impressive 140 kW per rack. In contrast to the global average PUE, which typically ranges between 1.6 and 1.9 for rack densities of just 17 kW, Submer’s technology enables a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) between 1.03 and 1.1. Solvenz’s partnership with Submer ensures the deployment of the most efficient and future-proofed cooling technology.

“Submer is thrilled to partner with Solvenz on this groundbreaking deployment, aligning seamlessly with our core values of maximum efficiency and sustainability at every level of the data center. This project marks just the beginning of our collaborative efforts in 2024, as we continue to pioneer innovative solutions that redefine industry standards for eco-friendly computing.”

Patrick Smets, Submer CEO

Solvenz has teamed up with JLL, a data center real estate firm engaged in leasing and marketing properties with decades of experience in data platforms. JLL has been instrumental in helping Solvenz navigate the data center industry, connecting them with end-users who share common goals.

“JLL is proud to be working with Solvenz and this impressive slate of best-in-class partners who are creating data center campuses focused on heat regulation and carbon capture. Considering the massive amounts of energy required to successfully power modern data centers, this opportunity presents an immediate path to power and flexibility to accommodate a number of diverse data center users, including hyperscalers, AI, and co-location operators.”

Joe Smurdon, Executive Managing Director at JLL

“We are excited to partner with Hypertec, JLL, and Submer as we set out to reset the data center status quo. We remain committed to a cost-effective, eco-friendly, future-proof design by utilizing immersion process servers engineered to pair with cooling solutions that support the underlying infrastructure of its high-density designs that are readily configurable to meet any level of hyperscaler and colocation end-user specifications.

We wanted to be as flexible as possible and remain sensitive to our end-user infrastructure requests and understand that certain solutions are not one-size-fits-all, so we have an open canvas and can facilitate any cooling methodology with our core focus on sustainable and energy-efficient cooling solutions.”
