The installation is part of its ongoing partnership with The Engineering Factory (TEF), an Australian-based distributor focused on increasing the efficiency and sustainability of datacenters. The deployment is the first of its kind in Australia.
The solution will be displayed at The Engineering Factory’s headquarters in Sydney, where customers will be able to book a slot to receive a live demo of Submer’s immersion cooling technology. This will give potential customers the chance to have hands-on experience with the technology and really begin to understand how immersion cooling can improve their IT operations, as well as help them improve their efficiency and sustainability. Customers will be able to ask questions and get a closer look at Submer’s innovative technology, including its SmartPodX and Micropod, its newest solution described as a datacenter in-a-box.
The impact of the installation
At present, there is a battle happening throughout the datacenter industry; the demand for high compute density continues, while the pressure on companies to adopt green technologies that reduce the impact on the environment grows. As industries like AI and blockchain continue to grow both in terms of size and their significance for the economy, there is a great need to find technologies that can deal with these challenges. Traditionally, adopting more sustainable technologies can mean sacrificing power, speed, and performance. However, this is not the case when immersion cooling is adopted.
Immersion cooling is the practice of submerging computer components (or full servers) in a thermally, but not electrically, conductive liquid (dielectric coolant). Immersion cooling offers datacenters the ability to keep up with the increasing demand for higher power density along with many other advantages such as a reduction in CO2 levels, power usage, and better Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Additionally, liquid cooling offers protection from the surrounding environment which could damage the hardware.
